Having A Vitamin Rich Diet Versus Taking Vitamin Supplement

Would you rather consume a vitamin-rich diet or take vitamin supplements to stay healthy? Which is the easier option? Which is more affordable, and which is more effective?

Basic Facts about Vitamins

There are two kinds of vitamins that help people get and stay healthy: fat soluble and water soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamins are those that are produced by the human body and reside in the liver and fatty tissues inside the body. They stay there until the human body has a special requirement for them. These are vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Water soluble vitamins on the other hand are found in numerous fruits and vegetables. These vitamins are vitamin C and all other substances falling under the Vitamin B category like thiamin and niacin. When these vitamins enter the human body, they dont stay stored in reserve like fat soluble vitamins but go in circulation through the bloodstream. Those that arent used by the human body are released through urine.

Pros and Cons of Having a Vitamin-Rich Diet

The greatest benefit you can enjoy from having a vitamin-rich diet is that your body will able to digest the vitamins found in the foods you eat in its purest and natural form. Although vitamin supplements are still beneficial to your health, they are however not as effective as those found in fruits and vegetables.

Having a vitamin-rich diet is also a more fulfilling way to get healthy because you can enjoy eating at the same time. Vitamin supplements taste bland, and thats why they often become seen as a tedious task to perform daily. A vitamin-rich diet on the other hand can consist of different dishes everyday depending on your skills and creativity in the kitchen.

As for the disadvantages, however, the first thing you might have difficulties adjusting to is the restrictions on the types of foods that youll have to eat. In order as not to counteract the effects of your vitamin-rich diet, you will therefore be required to stay away from meat, sweets, and other foods that are rich in sugar, fats, or oils.

Having a vitamin-rich diet is also usually the more expensive option because youd have to modify your grocery shopping list to include more greens and other healthy food choices and less of the affordable potato chips you love so much.

Pros and Cons of Taking Vitamin Supplements

Choosing the right vitamin supplement is important because not all types of vitamin supplements are suitable for your bodys needs. Knowing the right dosage is also important. If you take less than what you need then youre not going to get healthy as quickly as you should have or stay healthy as long as you should do. If you take more than what you need, the excess vitamins you ingest can cause undesirable chemical reactions with any of your bodily functions.

In other words, to play it safe, you will have to consult your doctor as to which vitamin supplements you exactly need.

The biggest advantage to taking vitamin supplements however is the ease and convenience it affords you. Vitamin supplements are something you can take anywhere you go so theres no problem maintaining your healthy habit no matter where you are!

In the end, its still your choiceeither way is right, but choosing both options however is the best option.
